We are looking for a Quality Specialist to join our team in Vancouver, WA.

 

Position Summary

Henkels & McCoy is looking for a talented individual to inspect power and radio/communication construction projects, review and edit inspection checklists, instruct on adherence to customer standards and ensure customer satisfaction with H&M Quality Programs and Construction Controls.

 

The best fit candidate is one with a utilties (gas, transmission, substation), telecom and/or construction and QA/QC background who can inspect work performed by field crews and processes to ensure compliance with established specifications and standards.  Additionally, must be a problem solver through effective communication and explaining the benefits of “First Time Quality” along with interacting well with geographically dispersed semi-autonomous groups throughout the region.

 

This is a field position requiring 100% travel to sites throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of work performed on assigned projects meets the contract specifications and/or typical industry standards and ensure documentation of the quality control. 
  • Understands the business, the context, and manages implications related to quality within the assigned Region or Division.
  • Assists management in ensuring compliance with the Henkels & McCoy established policies and procedures.
  • Track material quantities and document them accurately
  • Completes, maintains and submits all required construction checklists
  • Ensures that all testing required by the specification is performed
  • Interacts with the Project management to ensure adequate support from the Quality department at all times
  • Inform management of any work that is in noncompliance.
  • Works with management to improve quality systems internally and externally 

Qualifications

Travel Requirement
100% travel to sites throughout the Pacific Northwest.

 

Relevant Experience

  • Minimum 1 to 4 years of experience in construction quality control, inspection, field operations, or a related role within utility, infrastructure, or heavy civil construction.

  • Associates' Degree, or equivalent years of experience
  • Basic to working knowledge of construction quality control practices, contract specifications, and applicable industry standards.

  • Ability to verify that work performed meets project requirements and to maintain accurate, complete, and auditable quality documentation.

  • General understanding of how quality systems support business operations, project performance, and risk mitigation within a regional or divisional structure.

  • Experience assisting management with compliance to company policies, procedures, and established quality programs.

  • Ability to track material quantities and accurately document usage in accordance with project and client requirements.

  • Experience completing construction quality checklists, inspection forms, testing documentation, and related project records.

  • Familiarity with required testing and inspection activities and the ability to verify that specification-mandated testing is performed and documented.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with Project Management, Quality, and field personnel to ensure adequate quality support for assigned projects.

  • Willingness and ability to identify, document, and report nonconforming work to management in a timely and professional manner.

  • Demonstrated interest in continuous improvement and the ability to support improvements to internal and external quality systems.

Field Expectations

  • Ability and willingness to work regularly in an active construction field environment, including exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, and active equipment.

  • Ability to perform site walks, inspections, and audits across multiple job sites within the assigned region.

  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally as required to support project needs.

  • Ability to follow all company and site-specific safety requirements, including the consistent use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings or extended shifts, as dictated by project schedules.

Wage Range: 

$77,968.80 - $103,900/annually, DOE
