Position Summary

The Project Manager I provides project-related management for small to mid-scale construction projects across various markets within an assigned Region or Division. The Project Manager I is responsible for utilizing H&M's Project Management Methodology to manage all phases of the construction project lifecycle, while being accountable for all aspects of each project's success.
 
This position provides direct support to other functional project teams in the planning and execution of the job including resolving issues, managing resources, coordinating projects, interfacing with client representatives, overseeing project accounting, training, mentoring and coaching. The Project Manager I is also responsible for managing third party resources and overall project performance.
 
The Project Manager I serves a single-point contact and ensures compliance with the Henkels & McCoy established Project Management Methodology, upholding H&M safety and quality management protocols.
 

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, monitor, and close projects in accordance with Henkels & McCoy’s Project Management Methodology.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects, ensuring clear communication with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Monitor and report project status, performance metrics, and financial data to management and stakeholders.

  • Identify potential stakeholder conflicts and facilitate timely and effective resolution.

  • Manage project risks by identifying exposures, developing mitigation plans, and communicating risks across all phases of the project.

  • Oversee both self-performed and subcontracted work to ensure compliance with scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality requirements.

  • Coordinate with estimating, scheduling, project controls, accounting, safety, and field operations teams to support successful execution.

  • Manage third-party vendors, subcontractors, and consultants in alignment with contractual and performance expectations.

  • Ensure adherence to all Henkels & McCoy safety policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Support project accounting activities, including cost tracking, forecasting, change management, and reporting.

  • Train, mentor, and provide project management guidance to associates and field engineers.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of H&M project management methodology, tools, and processes.

  • Foster a high-performance team environment built on trust, accountability, candor, and constructive feedback.

  • Ensure team goals, roles, protocols, and business relationships align with company strategy and performance expectations.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing large scale projects and knowledge of construction and utility industry practices
  • Understanding of Critical Path Scheduling software and MS Office Suite
  • Completion of 3 H&M PMM online training
  • Completion of 7 H&M PMP online courses to earn Master Certificate
  • Moderately complex problem-solving skills
Educational Background:
  • BS or MS degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or Business
Relevant Experience:
  • Four or more years of expereince serving as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager capacity supporting utilities project scope (i.e. gas distribution, transmission distribution, substation distribution)
