Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst – Operations Finance to join our team in Pomona, CA. This role supports the organization’s financial and operational activities, reporting directly to the Director of Operations Finance and working closely with operations. The Senior Financial Analyst provides the critical connection between operational activity and financial performance, requiring in-depth knowledge of construction project-based accounting, strong analytical and data mining skills, and excellent communication abilities.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial reporting for major lump-sum and unit-rate projects.
  • Provide timely data and communicate emerging risks, opportunities, and margin impacts to leadership, ensuring well-informed decisions.
  • Track and analyze costs on major projects, ensuring key third-party and subcontractor costs are captured in line with procurement plans.
  • Build a strong understanding of project schedules to anticipate cost timing, aligning financial tracking and accruals with field execution and milestones.
  • Conduct weekly earned value analyses to identify cost and schedule variances early, providing actionable insights to operations and project management.
  • Leverage and enhance dashboards and reports highlighting key financial KPIs, cost drivers, and exceptions requiring action.
  • Partner with Operations to ensure financial tools are understood, used effectively, and drive a culture of data-based decision-making.
  • Support the monthly forecasting process, ensuring projections accurately reflect current project performance, schedules, and identified risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure forecast inputs and calculations are logical, consistent, and aligned with operational realities to prevent common forecasting errors.
  • Participate in Company action plans in responses to internal and outside audits as requested by Senior Management.
  • Develop strong understanding of Company job costing structure and systems including costing for payroll & fringes, AP, equipment cost, and indirect costs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, or advanced degree with 2 years relevant experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; general proficiency in all Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to develop and deliver management-level presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
