Job Overview: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Incident Reporting & Investigation Manager to lead and oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive incident reporting and investigation program for MasTec West. This crucial role ensures that incidents are documented promptly, thoroughly investigated, and that corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence, fostering a culture of continuous safety improvement. The successful candidate will collaborate with department heads, safety officers, and leadership teams to ensure incidents are handled in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

The Incident Reporting & Investigation Manager will be responsible for leading investigations, identifying root causes, and utilizing data and incident trends to drive safety improvements. In addition, this role will be instrumental in analyzing safety performance metrics, preparing detailed reports for senior leadership, and recommending corrective and preventive actions based on findings.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Comprehensive Incident Reporting Program: Design and implement a comprehensive incident reporting and investigation program to ensure all safety-related incidents are documented and addressed effectively.
  • Lead Incident Reporting & Investigation: Oversee the reporting and investigation of all safety-related incidents within the organization.
  • Accurate Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of incidents, in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Thorough Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations to identify root causes of incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Analyze Trends & Metrics: Analyze incident trends and safety performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and propose actionable solutions.
  • Prepare Detailed Reports: Prepare and present detailed incident reports to senior leadership, offering insights and recommendations for continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Collaborate with department heads, safety officers, and leadership teams to ensure incidents are handled promptly and appropriately.
  • Safety Training & Awareness: Drive the development of safety training and awareness programs to ensure employees are equipped to identify, report, and prevent incidents.
  • Align with Risk Management: Align incident reporting practices with broader organizational risk management efforts, contributing to the identification and mitigation of safety hazards across the company.
  • Stay Updated: Stay up to date on industry best practices, safety regulations, and emerging risks to continuously improve safety protocols and incident management.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in safety management, incident investigation, or a related field.
  • Proven experience leading safety investigations, analyzing data, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare detailed reports and present findings to senior leadership.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and identify trends to improve safety protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to fostering a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Certifications, such as OSHA, Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) certifications, or similar qualifications. Six Sigma, or similar, are a plus.
